Our Wish List

Our classroom library benefits every year from donations.
***We would love for you to send just one book--your FAVORITE book--to school with your student. ***
This would increase our library by nearly fifty family-endorsed, RICH texts. It doesn’t need to be a classic, but should be a “classic” to you: something you would reread over and over if you have the time; something that marked a transition in your life; something that made you laugh until you cried. This would be such a tremendous gift for these young people.
Tell your student why you are sending this book to school with them, and s/he will relate that story to the class.
If you are unsure about which book to select, we do keep a WISH LIST on Amazon.com that can be viewed here: http://bit.ly/2bsiSEE. These are often student book requests.

Classroom Items

Our classroom is always in need of tissues, whiteboard markers, mini staplers, index cards, post-it notes, etc.

Translaters

We would also love to have a Spanish-speaking parent(s) to help us with parent communication (written and oral).

Donors Choose

We will alert you when we add projects to our Donors Choose site.

Guest Speakers and Field Work Connections

We are also looking for local writers/artists that would like to come in and speak about their craft. We will be focusing on the Harlem Renaissance, the Chicano Art Movement, the Hip-hop/Graffiti as Art Movements, The Surrealists, Abstract Expressionists, Pop Art and Modernist Poets in particular, but ALL modes of expression are welcome. We want your students to see and hear artists/writers talking about their work.

Gift Cards

Amazon gift cards, Staples gift cards, Home Depot gift cards, and Blick Art gift cards are welcome, as well
